About Kim Powell

Kim Powell is an American multidisciplinary artist — musician, visual artist, and theater actor — currently residing in Austin, Texas, who creates large-scale paintings based on intuitive abstraction. She earned a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and continued her studies in painting at Bellas Artes in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. In 2010, Powell studied painting with American painter John Alexander via the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design.

In 2017, she was part of the Eros exhibition, curated by Andrew Fisher of the Fisher-Wiseman Collection, where she examined sensuality and the abstraction of the human body. A solo exhibition followed, exploring questions surrounding cultural identity and how countries have unique visual languages. Powell considers her work a spiritual endeavor and explores channels of awareness through rich color, movement, and depth. As interconnected beings, she invites viewers to visit a realm beyond the physical — a space-between. Powell's work is collected internationally.
